CUTTING THE RISK OF ADDICTION IN HALF

We’ve all seen our fairshare of scare tactic drug awareness ads. But even with all of those anxiety-inducing campaigns, the opioid epidemic was still raging on in St. Louis and around the country. So alongside the NCADA (now PreventEd), we created a new approach to combatting substance misuse – no scare tactics required.

WE TALKED ABOUT IT

One of the problems with relying on scare tactics with these types of campaigns is that people leave without knowing what to do next. So how do you combat this epidemic?

Research shows that just talking to kids about the dangers of substance misuse can cut the chance of addiction in half.

And that’s exactly what we told people to do.

WE WROTE THE BOOK

Having a real conversation about substance misuse can be a heavy topic for parents no matter how old their kids are.

To make it easier for them, we created age-specific talking kits that gave them conversation frameworks, tips, and key themes to cover – all contained within a one-sheeter to make it all feel a little less overwhelming.

WE KEPT GROWING

And what started out as a St. Louis-specific program has continued to grow. Now, it’s a statewide initiative that’s still going strong to this day.

See for yourself.
